🔎
Something is not working. Where do you look?
Find your symptom below. Each one points at the stage that is actually broken, and gives you the exact checks to run before you change anything else.
</aside>
How to use this
The instinct when numbers drop is always "rewrite the emails". That is almost never the fix.
<aside>
📌
Every symptom has exactly one broken stage upstream of it. Find that stage, run the checks, change one thing at a time. If you change four things and the number moves, you have learned nothing.

IF: We have lots of engaged leads who asked for more, but they never booked a call

🔥
This is the most common and most expensive leak in the whole system. You did the hard part. You made a stranger raise their hand. Then you lost them.
The problem is not the copy. The copy worked. The problem is what happened in the hours after.

Check, in this order
<aside>
1️⃣
How fast did you respond?
- Did you reply within 5 minutes? Not 5 hours. Not "same day".
- Interest decays by the hour. At the moment they hit send, the problem is top of mind and you have their full attention. An hour later they are in a meeting.
- If your average response time is over 30 minutes, stop reading. This is your problem.
</aside>
<aside>
2️⃣
Did you actually call them?
- Email replies get email answers. Email plus a phone call gets meetings.
- You are almost certainly the only person who called. That alone separates you.
- If nobody on the team is calling engaged leads, this is your problem.
</aside>
<aside>
3️⃣
Are you running omni-channel, or just email?
- Reply comes in on email. Did you also connect on LinkedIn? Send a voice note? Text if you have the number?
- One channel is a request. Three channels is a presence.
- Same person, same day, different surfaces.
</aside>
<aside>
4️⃣
Was the asset actually valuable?
- Open the thing you sent and read it as if you were them. Would you book a call after reading it?
- Was it specific to their company, or a generic PDF with their name pasted in?
- Could they finish it in under 10 minutes?
- Did it make your mechanism obvious, or did it just describe a problem they already knew they had?
- The tell: if the asset gets read and nothing happens, the asset proved you understand the problem but not that you can solve it.
</aside>
<aside>
5️⃣
Did you ask for the meeting at all?
- Sending the asset and waiting is not a next step.
- The asset should arrive with a reason to talk: a question, a finding, something specific to them that needs a conversation.
</aside>
<aside>
6️⃣
Did you make booking easy?
- One link, live calendar, no back and forth on times.
- "What does your week look like?" adds a round trip and loses people.
</aside>
<aside>
7️⃣
Did you stop after two tries?
- An engaged lead who did not book is not a dead lead. They go into nurture, forever, with value every time.
- If your CRM shows engaged leads with no activity in 30 days, you are throwing away the most expensive leads you have.
</aside>
<aside>
🎯
The benchmark: 30% of engaged leads should become booked meetings. Below that, it is speed and follow-through, not copy.
